Grateful and Generous: Best Practices for A Flawless Thank You Page

More than just for lead generation, inbound marketing teaches us that building relationships with your customers is the key to marketing and sales success. Your Thank You page stands as one of the most effective tools in your online marketing arsenal to make this happen. Compose a Thank You page that actually works with these five best practices:

1. Saying Thanks? Highlight Their Value.

Let's go back to the purpose of your Thank You page: it's there to nurture your newly converted leads. To keep your leads interested enough to hear from your sales team, you should be able to address their concerns and acknowledge their participation early on. Together with your gratitude, say that you appreciate the time and details that your visitors gave when they signed up for your offer. Your leads should know that they are more than just cold numbers, and that you value their opinions and the information they've provided.

It's also crucial to design the Thank You page with the needs of your leads in mind. More than just explicitly stating thanks, make it easy for them to access the content you promised to deliver: keep the page clean, the download links visible, and the tone alive.

2. Guiding Your Leads? Give Instructions.

“What’s next?” – This is probably one of the questions that will pop up in the minds of your leads as they gain access to your offer. Don’t get them bogged down in confusion! Think of it as dancing, where your partner (in this case, your leads) could get lost if you’re not taking the lead. Moving from one page to another, remind them on the Thank You page what they’re getting for signing up. Guide them on the steps needed to be taken after fulfilling the requirements on the landing page. By providing clear and concise instructions on what they should do next, you’ll effectively avoid the frustration of your target audience.

3. Delivering Offers? Exceed Expectations.

Your thank you page should contain the content that your audience was expecting to receive. They signed up for something, so they shouldn't leave your page empty-handed. While you've clearly stated in your landing page the content of the offer that your leads will actually get, throw in some surprises that are helpful and relevant to their interests. Bonuses are always a good thing, but keep it to a minimum. If the offer is an infographic, provide extra resources such as additional links or case studies to further engage your audience.

4. Making Your Leads Want More? Keep Them as Followers.

Deepening your relationship with your customers translates to regularly engaging with them. Keep the ball rolling by asking them to subscribe to your blog posts, sign up for your newsletter, and follow your social media accounts. While keeping in touch through sending emails certainly works, connecting with your leads through social media can boost your brand's popularity and enables you to manage your interactions with a huge number of people. You can also share news and updates via social media on what they can expect next.

5. Growing Connections? Share The Offer.

If your customers enjoyed your offer, this might be something they’d be willing to share with their friends! It’s also an opportunity for your business to gain new leads. Encourage them to share the offer to people via email or social media; provide the links/buttons for sharing options. At this point, you can also put up navigation links and menus back so they can explore more about your services and/or product – the more details they know about your business, the more information they can share to their social network.

Your Thank You page should reflect how much you care about your leads’ concerns by rewarding them with an offer they can’t refuse. By keeping everything clear and helpful, you’ll cultivate your leads’ trust in no time.
